Ingredients
3medium russet PotatoesAbout 1½ lbs
1literhot water for soaking
2tablespoonoil
1teaspoongarlic powder
1teaspoonsmoked paprika
½teaspoonsalt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Rinse and clean 3 medium-sized russet potatoes. Peel the potatoes if desired and cut them into slices about ¼ to ⅜-inch thick.
To reduce the starchiness, cover the potatoes in a bowl with hot water from the tap and soak them for 10 to 15 minutes or cold water for at least 30 minutes.
Drain the water and rinse a couple of times until the water comes out clear. Then pat the potatoes dry with a paper towel - don't skip this step.
Place potatoes into a large mixing bowl and season with garlic powder, paprika, and pepper. Add the oil and mix well.
Preheat the air fryer to 380 F and add the potatoes to the basket in a single layer. You may work in batches. Cook the fries for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden and crisp, and remember to flip halfway through.
Remove the fries from the basket and toss them with salt. Serve hot with ketchup, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
It's very important not to add salt until after the fries are done. When added before cooking it pulls out water from the potatoes and this can make the resulting fries soggy.
Be sure to shake in between cooking to help the fries crisp evenly
