Ingredients
6-8large fresh lemonsenough for 1 cup of lemon juice
1cupgranulated sugaror adjust to taste
4cupscold water
Ice cubes
lemon slices and fresh mint leaves for garnishoptional
Instructions
Step 1: Squeeze the Lemon Juice
Wash and dry the lemons thoroughly.
Cut the fresh lemons in half.
Use a juicer to squeeze the juice out of the lemons.
Pour the lemon juice through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl to remove any seeds or pulp. You should have about 1 cup of lemon juice.
Step 2: Make Simple Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water.
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the simple syrup cool to room temperature.
Step 3: Combine Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, and Water
In a large pitcher, combine the strained lemon juice with the cooled simple syrup.
Add the remaining 3 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir well to combine.
Step 4: Adjust Flavor and Serve
Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness and tartness to your preference by adding more sugar or lemon juice if needed.
Add ice cubes to the pitcher and give it a final stir.
Serve the lemonade in glasses filled with ice cubes, garnished with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves, if desired.
