4 tablespoon unsalted butter 1 onion minced 2 cloves garlic minced Thyme ¼ cup all-purpose flour 2 cups low sodium chicken stock or turkey stock 1 chicken bouillon cube 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning Salt and pepper to taste
Melt the butter in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the onions, garlic, and thyme and cook till tender. About 5 minutes.
Make the roux by stirring in the flour—Cook for about 30 seconds. Don’t overcook the roux because we want to maintain the golden brown color.
Slowly pour in the stock and whisk while you pour to prevent lumps.
Add the poultry seasoning, bouillon cube, salt, and pepper to taste.
Reduce to a simmer and cook, continuously whisking until smooth and thick serve immediately.
Add salt to taste at the end to avoid your gravy being too salty.
I used Chicken broth in this recipe; however, beef broth or vegetable broth can be used.
