Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 onion minced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Thyme
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups low sodium chicken stock or turkey stock
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the onions, garlic, and thyme and cook till tender. About 5 minutes.
  • Make the roux by stirring in the flour—Cook for about 30 seconds. Don’t overcook the roux because we want to maintain the golden brown color.
  • Slowly pour in the stock and whisk while you pour to prevent lumps.
  • Add the poultry seasoning, bouillon cube, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Reduce to a simmer and cook, continuously whisking until smooth and thick serve immediately.

Notes

  1. Add salt to taste at the end to avoid your gravy being too salty.
  2. I used Chicken broth in this recipe; however, beef broth or vegetable broth can be used.
