Fried Shrimps

Crispy fried shrimps soaked in seasoning and coated with panko breadcrumbs make a delicious and juicy crust. It’s a delight to the eyes and the mouth. Perfect as an appetizer or main dish for seafood lovers. Dip them in your favorite sauce and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt or add to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper or add to taste
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 cups oil

Instructions

  • Sprinkle salt and pepper over shrimp in a medium bowl and mix well.
  • In a shallow bowl, combine flour, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Add eggs to a second bowl and panko to a third bowl.
  • To coat the shrimp, dip them into the flour mixture, then into the egg, and then into panko crumbs. Place them on a flat plate or tray.
  • Heat the oil in a deep fryer or deep skillet to a temperature of about 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Once the oil is hot, fry a few shrimp at a time fry until golden brown. About 2 to 3 minutes depending on the size of the shrimp.
  • Remove the fried shrimp with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Notes

  1. Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the pot.
  2. The thicker the coating, the crispier it gets. I dredge the shrimp with my hands and press them into the mixture on both sides to get a thicker coating.
  3. Avoid overcooking them. Overcooked ones are chewy and tough to eat.
