  • 2 plantains unripe or semi-ripe
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper or to taste
  • Enough oil to deep fry the plantains

  • 2 semi-ripe plantains
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil or any other oil of your choice
  • cayenne pepper optional
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oil

Instructions for deep-fried plantain fries

  • Peel the plantains and cut them into sticks like fries (about ½ to ¾ inch thickness). Put them inside a bowl and season the plantains with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Preheat some oil on medium to high heat in a deep frying pan to about 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Add the plantains and fry occasionally stirring, until golden brown and crisp on the edges, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oil and let it drain. Serve immediately with ketchup, hot sauce, or dipping sauce.

Instructions for Oven-baked plantain fries

  • Get your oven preheated to 425°F.
  • Peel the plantains cut them into sticks like fries, and put them inside a bowl.
  • Season the plantains with salt, garlic powder, cayenne pepper (optional), and paprika, and drizzle the olive oil over it.
  • Mix well until all the plantains are covered with the seasoning and oil.
  • Spread the plantain slices out on a baking tray. Make sure they don’t overlap.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, turning halfway between.
  • Remove from oven and serve immediately.
