Ingredients

  • 2 lb catfish large
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon thyme
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon red chili flakes or cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  • Clean the fresh fish thoroughly to remove the slime on the skin.
  • Cut the fish into about 1-½ to 2 inch thickness.
  • Rinse the fish again and pat dry with a paper towel.
  • Mix the oil and spices in a small bowl.
  • Drizzle the marinade on the fish and rub it in.
  • Place the fish in the air fryer in a single layer.
  • Air fry for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Notes

  • Don't overcrowd the basket: Ensure the fish have enough space to cook evenly and get crispy. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Adjust seasoning: Feel free to tweak the spice level to your taste. Add more cayenne for extra heat or more garlic/onion powder for flavor.
  • Check doneness: Catfish should be flaky and opaque when cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
