Nothing beats the taste of puffy and crispy baked sweet potatoes with caramelized edges. It is simple yet so sweet and delicious. Learn how to bake it right in the oven or air fryer.
Scrub sweet potatoes, wash and pat them dry, and prick them all over with a fork or a pairing knife.
Oven method:
Place them on a baking tray and roast at 425F preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until they're tender and a fork can easily pierce the potato.
Air fryer method:
Place them in the basket of the air fryer, and air fry them at 380F for 40 to 45 minutes or until they are puffed and tender on the inside when pierced with a fork.
Leave to cool for about 10 minutes; split the top open with a knife, top with butter, and season with salt and pepper.
You can also top as desired. See some suggestions above.
Notes
Don’t forget to scrub the skin to remove all the dirt.
Poke the body with a fork or knife to release the juices.
Cook similar potato sizes so they can get done at the same rate.
I didn't use foil for baking my sweet potatoes. I have noticed that using foil makes the skin boil, moist, and sometimes slimy. I love sweet potatoes with crispy skin, so I place them bare on the baking tray.
You can roast the sweet potatoes in halves if you’re in a hurry.
