Large cast iron skillet: to sear the steak bites
Tongs: For turning the steak in the skillet and removal when done.
Ingredients
2tablespoonsolive oildivided
1½tablespoonlemon juice freshly squeezed
1teaspoongarlic powder
1teaspoononion powder
Pinchred pepper flakes
½tablespoonthyme
½ to ¾teaspooneach salt and pepper or add to taste
1lb.Beef sirloin steakfat trimmed and cut into bite-size pieces.
In a large bowl, combine one tablespoon of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, thyme, salt, and pepper. Add the steak and toss to coat. Leave to marinade for at least an hour or leave overnight.
Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the remaining one tablespoon of olive oil. Place the steak in the pan in an even layer ( You can cook in batches to prevent the steak from steaming)
Allow the steak to sear for about 1 minute without disturbing it. Stir and repeat until the steak is nice and caramelized on all sides.
Add the butter and crushed garlic, toss to coat, and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
Use unsalted butter to be able to control the amount of salt that goes into your steak bites
Make sure your pan is well-heated before starting to place your steak
Cook in batches if you are making it in large quantities to prevent the steaks from steaming.
