Broccoli is one of my favorite vegetables to cook. It’s so quick and easy to prepare, and it’s ready in no time. Plus, they are a healthy and tasty side dish.
I love simple dishes, and broccoli qualifies as one for me. Broccoli can be a show stopper if cooked right. It’s very versatile, and it can be boiled, stir-fried, steamed, roasted, grilled, and of course, microwaved.
Microwaving is an excellent way to cook broccoli, and it serves as a perfect side to so many main dishes. Simplicity at it’s finest.
I have always had my sentiments on microwaving broccoli until I did a little research and realized that microwaving is actually an excellent way to cook broccoli not only because it’s the easiest way to cook broccoli but because it retains most of it’s flavinoids when cooked this way.
HOW TO MICROWAVE BROCCOLI
Trust me; you don’t really need a recipe for this side-dish, all that you need is broccoli, water, salt, and pepper. Add some melted butter and lemon juice for additional flavor!
Cut the broccoli into florets and place in a microwave-safe dish with a lid. Add a little bit of water and heat on high for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes until they become fork tender.
When done, strain off any leftover liquid (if there’s any) season with salt and pepper, add melted butter and lemon juice (optional), and serve!
The broccoli should not be too soft or mushy when done, and it should have a bit of crunch with a vibrant green color.
