  • Yummy and flavourful

Ingredients for making Honey Garlic Chicken

  • Chicken: I used the skin-on and bone-in chicken thigh for this recipe. Also, chicken breast works fine.
  • Paprika: this is your go-to for earthy and smoky flavor. It also enhances the color of the chicken.
  • Oregano: fresh herb to spice up the taste.
  • Cayenne pepper:  for a dash of heat.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon juice: adds tangy flavor to balance the taste. Rice wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar will work as well.
  • Honey: it determines the consistency of the sauce and adds a sweet flavor. Honey is easier to find, but you can still substitute it with agave nectar.
  • Soy sauce: Use all-purpose or light soy sauce to add umami flavor.
  • Water: add water to the sauce till you get the desired consistency. Chicken broth also works fine.
  • Garlic cloves and garlic powder: I combined freshly minced garlic cloves and a pinch of garlic powder for a deeper flavor.

How to make Honey Garlic Chicken

Cooking honey garlic chicken is pretty easy. Follow these simple steps to make your own.

  • Season the chicken thighs and set aside.
  • Sear chicken on both sides.
  • Continue flipping the chicken until it is fully cooked.
  • Add Lemon juice, honey, soy sauce, garlic, and water.
  • Continue to cook on medium-high heat until the sauce thickens.
  • Remove from heat, and spoon sauce over chicken.
  • Garnish with lemon slices and fresh chopped parsley, and serve.

Tips for making Honey Garlic Chicken

  • I used an all-purpose soy sauce for this recipe. If you don’t have it, you can also use the light soy sauce: it works perfectly. I do not recommend dark soy sauce because of its strong flavor, which can overshadow other ingredients.
  • Don’t overcook the chicken.
