Ingredients for making Rice and Beef

  1. Beef: The protein in this recipe is ground beef.
  2. Rice: you can use long-grain rice like Basmati or Jasmine for a fluffy texture, medium-grain for a creamier consistency, or short-grain rice for a stickier texture.

How to make Rice and Ground beef Recipe

  1. Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil to the pan. Add the diced onion to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the ground beef and cook it, until it’s browned.
  3. Add the diced bell pepper and tomatoes and cook for another 2-3 minutes until it’s soft.
  4. Add ginger, tomato paste, pepper, thyme, paprika, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 2-3 minutes before stirring in the rice. 
  5. Pour the chicken broth and bay leaves, and combine all the ingredients.
  6. Cover and bring the mixture to a simmer over a low heat for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
  7. Serve and enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onions medium diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1-1/2 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups tomatoes diced
  • 2 cups bell peppers each bell peppers diced – green,red, yellow and orange
  • 1 tbsp ginger minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp thyme
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp black pepper to taste
  • 3 cups rice
  • 4-1/2 cups chicken stock
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil to the pan. Add the diced onion to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened and translucent.
  • Add the minced garlic to the pan and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef and cook it, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it’s browned and cooked.
  • Once the beef is cooked, add the diced bell pepper and diced to the pan and cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
  • Add ginger, tomato paste, pepper, and thyme. Add paprika, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 2-3 minutes before stirring in the rice.
  • Pour the chicken broth and bay leaves, and combine all the ingredients.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer gently for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.
  • Once the rice is cooked, remove the pan from the heat.
